Police says they could have shot the person but decided not to given civilian presence

Srinagar, March 19 (KNO) : In a dramatic turn of events, an over ground worker (OGW) managed to flee from the lower court complex in Batamaloo area of Srinagar leaving the police high and dry, witnesses told The incident happened at around 4:45, when a youth Ishfaq Ahmed Rah son of Abdul Rashid Rah, resident of Kulgam was brought for trial in district court Srinagar from Mattan area of Anantnag district. A police spokesman said that Ishfaq was arrested in case FIR number 73/2018 of police station Qazigund. He was also involved in many other cases including FIR number 37/2018 registered in police station Kulgam. “Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard. Search has been launched to trace the accused person,” the police said. Talking to KNO, a senior police officer said that they could have shot Ishfaq but given the large presence of civilians and lawyers in the court, they decided not to. “We will get him sooner or later,” the officer said.(KNO)
